The Challenge

The challenge for SAP Marketing Poland was moving beyond product presentations and giving attendees a practical understanding of how connected processes, real-time data, and cross-functional decision-making influence business performance.

SAP wanted participants to experience these concepts firsthand, creating a stronger connection between SAP capabilities and real-world business outcomes while stimulating more meaningful strategic discussions.

Why ERPsim?

To achieve its objectives, SAP selected ERPsim as the centerpiece of the event experience.

Running on a live SAP S/4HANA, ERPsim transforms participants from passive observers into active decisionmakers, allowing them to experience the impact of their decisions in a realistic business environment.

The ERPsim Experience

Co-facilitated by SAP and NTT DATA Business Solutions, participants were divided into competing teams and challenged to manage a virtual manufacturing company operating on SAP S/4HANA.

Within minutes, the room shifted from conference attendance to business execution. Conversations that normally take place after presentations emerged naturally during the simulation itself.

Teams debated pricing strategies, inventory levels, procurement decisions, production targets, and marketing investments while monitoring business results in real time.

Success quickly proved to be more complicated than simply maximizing sales. Sales plans needed to align with production capacity. Procurement decisions affected inventory availability. Marketing campaigns drove demand that operations needed to fulfill. Every decision created consequences elsewhere in the business.

As teams became more confident, many shifted their focus toward growth and market share.

That’s when the simulation revealed its most valuable lesson.

The Moment Everything Clicked

One of the most memorable moments occurred when several teams aggressively increased demand through sales and marketing investments without adjusting production plans or raw material purchases.

The consequences were immediate. Inventory shortages appeared. Profitability declined. All of it was visible in real time within SAP S/4HANA.

Several teams adjusted their strategies mid-game based on real-time SAP insights and saw immediate performance improvements, reinforcing the value of real-time visibility, collaboration, and data-driven decision-making.

The intensity of the experience was evident throughout the session. As Adam Adamczyk, Head of SAP Supply Chain Management at SAP and seasoned ERPsim facilitator, remarked:

“Honestly, I need a moment to catch my breath!”

The comment captured the atmosphere in the room as participants analyzed data, adjusted strategies, and reacted to rapidly changing business conditions.

What began as a learning exercise quickly evolved into a highly competitive business environment where every decision mattered.

Business Impact

What Participants Took Away

Because participants shared a common business experience, conversations naturally evolved from product features to operational challenges, planning decisions, and business outcomes.

Participants left with a practical understanding of:

  • How connected processes influence performance
  • Why collaboration across functions matters
  • How real-time data supports better business decisions

Key Takeaways

By making decisions, collaborating across functions, and seeing business outcomes unfold in real time, participants gained a practical understanding of how SAP supports business transformation.

The event didn’t just showcase SAP capabilities; it connected them to real business challenges and outcomes.
